AUDACE 2015

INTRODUCTION
The widespread use of sensors and mobile equipment, scientific programs - in astronomy, biology, physics and agriculture, for example - and the large-scale development of social networks have led to the emergence of the “Big Data” phenomenon. This phenomenon translates into an unprecedented increase in the volume, complexity, speed of acquisition and variability of data. This data is the input, or raw material, for a complex processing chain whose main phases are :

data collection, cleaning, integration and structural and/or functional annotation,
data storage, indexing and interrogation,
data analysis and interpretation to derive knowledge, and
the exploitation of derived knowledge for rational decision-making.
OBJECTIVES OF THE AUDACE 2015 PROJECT
The AUDACE 2015 project is the first application for structuring equipment within the AUDACE challenge. Its first objective was to lay the foundations of the hardware infrastructure, particularly in terms of network and equipment for the Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) datacenter. Its second objective was to acquire the computing and storage resources needed to start up a shared-memory multiprocessor architecture and a computing and storage cloud.
